    Stitching-Free 360° Driving Plates for In-Camera VFX on LED Volumes

    IgelkottPlates publishes 491 stitching-free 360° driving plates, each recorded with one lens on one sensor and delivered stitching-free up to 16K. 349 are sold as 8K360 at 25 000 SEK and 142 as 16K360 at 37 500 SEK, ex VAT, licensed for one named project in perpetuity. Every plate carries a free ten-second sample at full resolution, so you can put the material on your own wall before you buy: the full driving plate catalogue.

    What does "stitching-free" mean on these plates?

    The equirectangular frame was never assembled. One lens exposed it, one sensor read it out, a gyrostabilized rig carried it. The world arrives intact: nothing in the image is reconstructed.

    What does one viewpoint give you?

    • One point in space. What sits behind the actor is one real place at one real instant.
    • The vehicle's own line on the road. The plate follows the path the vehicle drove.
    • Coherent motion. One sensor, one shutter, one rolling shutter behaviour across the whole sphere. Motion reads the same ahead, beside and behind.
    • No parallax to reconcile. Close objects – pillars, road signs, oncoming vehicles – stay single and solid as they pass, which is where near-field detail is most exposed on a wall.

    How freely can you rotate the plate?

    Freely, in any direction. The sphere came off one lens, so no part of it needs protecting from the taking camera: put any part of the world behind the performer, orient the plate to suit your blocking, and reframe mid-take without re-orienting the background. Where the plate sits is a camera decision rather than a content decision.

    Why can exposure and colour not be reconstructed afterwards?

    Because they are properties of the capture, not of the pixels. One lens and one sensor give one exposure and one white balance all the way around the sphere and all the way through the take, plus one sensor's colour response in every direction. No part of the sphere responds differently from its neighbour.

    That is what makes a plate usable as the sole source for reflections and image-based lighting. When the wall is also your key, a difference in level or white point between two parts of the sphere becomes a difference in the light landing on the actor as the car turns. One exposure means the light rotating around the performer is the light that was there. The same holds for flare: there is one lens flare, and it travels coherently as the vehicle turns.

    What happens with the sky?

    The sky is captured in-frame, inside a usable field of 360° × 125° out of a full equirectangular 360° × 180° projection. Roughly 55° of the sphere falls outside that usable field. What is inside it is recorded imagery carrying the same exposure and the same sensor response as the road below it, which is what the wall hands back as reflections in paintwork and glass. Load the free sample and check the usable field against your own ceiling geometry before you license a plate.

    How much resolution do you get per degree?

    Pixels per degree decides whether a plate holds up at your pixel pitch.

    Delivery is ProRes 422 HQ at a 180° shutter angle; other formats, including NotchLC, on request. Gamma encoding varies by plate – ACEScct (AP1) and HLG (Rec.2020) both occur – as does frame rate, 24 and 25 fps. Plates are continuous, not looping. All 88 16K plates come from the London series, Los Angeles, Upplands-Bro or the train series.

    Median length across the 437 plates published as of August 2026 is 4 min 05 s, the shortest 1 min 18 s and the longest 19 min 04 s; 430 run at least two minutes. The median 8K plate is 4 min 13 s at 58.45 GB, the median 16K plate 3 min 19 s at 80.07 GB.

    Why does a constant camera height let plates cut together?

    Every plate publishes its Point of View Height, and that height is constant within each vehicle type. Two plates of the same type therefore cut together without the horizon jumping against your set floor: the eyeline you set for one car plate holds for the next.

    How do I test a plate against my own volume?

    Every plate has a Sample variant at 0 SEK: ten seconds, watermarked, at the plate's full resolution – so what you measure is what you would buy.

    • Pick a plate matching your scene's location and time of day, for example from the New York plates or Washington D.C.
    • Play the sample through your own media server and colour pipeline, at the gamma encoding stated on the plate's page.
    • Judge it at the wall, at working camera distance and focal length, against the pixels-per-degree figures above.
    • Check the horizon against your set floor using the published Point of View Height, then rotate the sphere until the background sits where your blocking wants it.
    • Watch what the wall does to paintwork and glass, which is where one exposure and one white balance across the whole sphere do their work.

    Four locations carry both a full day and a full night selection, day/night: Washington D.C. 53/26, Stockholm 30/15, New York 24/14, London 7/13. The catalogue spans 14 locations in five countries, grouped by destination, by time of day and by vehicle. If nothing fits, custom shoots start at 125 000 SEK inside the EU and 250 000 SEK outside it, at roughly three minutes of plate per shooting day: what a custom shoot covers.
