Cookie Policy
Last updated: 1 May 2026.
This page describes the cookies and similar storage technologies that IgelkottPlates uses on www.igelkottplates.com, why we use them, how long they last, and how you can change your choice. It complements our Privacy Policy, which covers how we process personal data more broadly.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a
website. We also use related technologies such as
localStorage and sessionStorage; for the
purposes of this policy we group all of these under the term
"cookies".
Your choice
The first time you visit our site we ask you, via a banner, whether you accept analytics cookies. Strictly-necessary cookies (cart, checkout, security) are always set because the site cannot function without them; this is permitted under ePrivacy Article 5(3) and does not require consent.
You can change your choice at any time by clicking Cookie settings or by clearing your browser storage for this site.
Cookies we use
Strictly-necessary (always on)
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
cart, cart_sig, cart_ts |
Shopify | Maintains your shopping cart between page loads. | Up to 14 days |
_shopify_y, _shopify_s |
Shopify | Session and visitor identification needed for checkout. | Session / up to 1 year |
_secure_session_id |
Shopify | Secures your session during checkout. | Session |
igelkott.consent.v1 (localStorage) |
IgelkottPlates | Remembers your cookie-banner choice so we do not ask again on every visit. | Until you clear browser storage |
Analytics (only with your consent)
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_K4FFRCM1BR |
Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd) | Aggregated traffic and behaviour analytics. We use Consent Mode v2: until you accept, no analytics cookies are written and any data sent is cookieless and aggregated. | Up to 24 months |
VAT validation
EU VAT-ID validation runs server-side at checkout via Shopify Tax (Shopify Inc., Ireland for EU customers). When you enter a VAT number in the Shopify checkout, it is validated against the European Commission's VIES database. No third-party cookies are set on your browser for this purpose — the validation request is server-to-server.
Third-party cookies
Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Ltd. Data may be transferred to Google servers in the United States; this transfer is governed by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How to refuse or delete cookies
You can:
- Click "Reject all" in our cookie banner — analytics cookies will not be set.
- Clear all storage for
www.igelkottplates.comin your browser settings — this removesigelkott.consent.v1and any analytics cookies, and the banner will reappear on your next visit. - Use your browser's "Do Not Track" or third-party-cookie-blocking settings — we honour these signals where technically possible.
Changes to this policy
If we add, remove, or substantially change the cookies we use we
will update this page and reset the consent banner so you can review
the new list. The bumping is implemented by versioning the storage key
(currently igelkott.consent.v1); a future change to
v2 will treat all existing consents as expired.
